The Blue Jay
A blue jay is a medium-sized songbird native to North America, easily recognized by its bright blue feathers, white chest, and black markings around its neck and face. Known for their intelligence and loud calls, blue jays are part of the crow family (Corvidae). They often mimic the calls of other birds and are social, curious, and resourceful, feeding mainly on nuts, seeds, insects, and small vertebrates. They play an important role in forests by spreading acorns and other seeds.
